The Rape of Baghdad Continues
First, they thought they can break the will of the Iraqi people by pillaging and burning Baghdad…..
Foolishly, they still think they can falsify history and fabricate a proud nation's "constitution"…..
Lest we forget, the physical and moral rape of Iraq is still a daily occurrence.....

i remember very well , when i have first seen this photo..:)
Yes, they are talking about an Iraqi constitution ,and Sunni Muslims protesting and submitting a counterproposal ,so that it fully matches Islamic Shari'a .
Very Ironic, as if the whole situation matches "Islamic" or whatever regime's legsilations.
They are "faking it"..( though the show is much nicer, sounds even more true..:)
And am glad your post has nothing to do with our elections parade !
Another fabrication of a "free" nation..!

Yeah! Those damned terrorists think that they can ruin a proud, peace loving nation such as Iraq! They will not suceed! The proud Iraqis will stand firm and united for a real democracy and not allow the self serving thugs to take over their country and coninue the rape, pillage and terror.

Moushira,
Yes that is the same image from the Alex lecture :))) good memory!
As you said, it is a farce, and quite ironic one indeed!
Now we have a draft for an Iraqi "constitution" that has been "negotiated" at gun point literally, with Mullahs and Ayatollahs pulling the strings from behind.
It is like a sad marionette that is being manipulated by 15 hands, each is trying to make "dance" to a different tune!
Muna,
It is not only the "insurgents" that are spoiling the deal, every faction is. As I have already mentioned to Moushira above: the Ayatollahs, the Mullahs, the US ...and the rest of the players are all co-conspirators in this travesty.

Typical, even your 'tasbeeras' are as 'professional' as others' most seriously done work!!
Iraq is just a case that really fills me with depression and great grief. I've been to Baghdad some 15 years ago, and I know exactly that Iraqis are such a proud and intelligent people, sad to see their history-strewn country be ruined by the real 'self-serving thugs', to quote the anonymous Muna!

Alaa,
The interesting part is that each "comment" interpreted the post differently. Just the way each one sees the Iraqi situation their own way. That’s why I, intentionally, left it open-ended!
Highlander,
Beirut and Baghdad! I never thought of the two in the same context before. I have to think about that some more. To me Beirut was always about a self-inflected wound (for the most part), but Baghdad! That’s another story all together.
arch.memory,
That is a satellite image of Baghdad during the first week of the American bombardment. If you look closely, you can see the Euphrates River snaking thru the city.

arch.memory,
A correction: the river in the satellite image is the Tigris River thru Baghdad (not the Euphrates)..
Bashkateb,
Welcome back (lessa dof3a?)...
"..ma belyadd 7ilah!!..", as you said, but still, we need to be reminded of the ongoing catastrophe in Iraq.
